When we first started dating, James and I grew a steady connection through our love for music. Over time, especially during the deployment, we would share different music and develop a love for songs that mean a lot to us. I have found some great songs that helped me personally get through the deployment. (Sometimes it is okay to be sad and cry it out!).
While I know everyone has different taste in music, I think these are great songs to listen to whether you are feeling down and missing him, or if you just want to escape the outside world for a little bit.

Deployment High & Lows.
Let’s be real there are more lows than highs, but let’s try and stay positive around here! Deployments take a ton of adjustment, especially if you are a newlywed, heck even a seasoned, military wife.
High: New Experiences. This is on both ends, as your husband is now in a new place and seeing new things. What other opportunity would they get to go to Japan or Germany? Look at this as a positive, because they get to see different places. (I realize there are deployments that are in less beautiful places, but a new place is a new place, make the most of it!)
Low: Time Difference. This can be a 7 hour time difference, or a 13 hour. However much of a difference is, it sucks. It will end with one of you losing some sleep time and your sanity, so try and work out the best schedule for your situation and try and plan out your days accordingly. I like to watch TV late at night to help keep my awake to talk to him.
High: New Responsibilities. I definitely saw this as a low, when first starting out but here me out on this one. You have new responsibilities on the home front and the opportunity to grow more as an independent individual. I definitely needed this kick in the butt, because I’m the most dependent person Haha. Having him gone, made me step up my game and take on these new responsibilities with a sense of accomplishment and it will feel good once you start getting a hang of it.
Low: Assuming the worst. When you don’t hear from them or get a text back for several hours, your first thought is no longer ‘oh they are probably just busy with work’… You now tend to assume the worst is going on and fear their safety is at risk. This is a huge low for me as I get very anxious if he doesn’t reply at the ‘usual’ times I’d expect. Just take a deep breath and don’t think about it. Insist that they are just at work or sleeping, it will be the best for your mind and sanity!
High: Finding New Hobbies. When he left, I didn’t realize how many hobbies are really out there! Hobbies are not only great at consuming your time, but you find new and hidden talents you didn’t know you had. Some wives have even discovered new hobbies and made them into businesses, so the skies the limit.
Low: No personal contact. Don’t think a military wife would forget about that empty bed, no hugs, and no kisses. It’s absolutely dreadful, and it is hard turning this one positive! It is true with the longer the wait, the sweeter the kiss… Although, going without intimacy is easier said than done and no one understands patience on this like a military spouse.
It is pretty common for me to be drawn to things red, white, and blue. So, when I found this old dress at my grandma's house I knew I had to try it on! She let me keep it and I see myself wearing it a ton in the future. Not only is it totally my style, but I love that I have something that belongs to my grandma. I also love the color blocking and that it goes down to my calves. It is very classic, patriotic, and just my style!

This summer I have been trying out a few new products and trying to find the best makeup for just a light, sunkissed look. I have fallen in love with a few products, so I wanted to share them with you! Here are my 5 summer beauty must haves, and they are all drugstore.
disclosure: I have linked all of these beauty products to affiliate links. What this means, is every time a link is clicked, I receive a small (and I mean small) compensation. Thanks for supporting me and I obviously use all of these products that I have linked! ☺
ELF- Tone Correcting Powder
This product I swiped from my mom, and I have been loving it! I dab a little bit of the yellow around my nose where it gets red (thanks allergies!) and then put my foundation on over. I love that it is so easy to apply and corrects all the tones on my face.
Covergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation
This and my MAC foundation are my absolute favorites. I have been using this one lately, because my MAC one is pretty pricey and since its summer I will sweat it all off haha. I love this foundation because it is so light but provides full coverage. I look like I have a full heavy foundation on, but I don't sweat it off or feel cakey.
ELF Blush and Contour Kit
I love that this blush goes in so shear and has a peach color pay off. I love that its subtle but has that extra shimmer, because it gives me more of a glow; which is perfect for summer time! The contour is a great shade to and is a lot more opaque. I suggest you use a light hand because a little goes a long way.
L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara
For the longest time, I only used Maybelline Rocket Mascara. I decided to venture out and try this one, and I love it! I sometimes combine the two, but I love that the L'Oreal mascara doesn't get clumpy or spider-like, no matter how many times I go over and add coats. i plan on doing a tutorial on how I do my eyelashes, so stay tuned!
Rimmel London Stay Glossy Lip Gloss
I'm usually a red lipstick kind of gal, but on occasion I get a pink gloss/lipstick kick! I have had this Rimmel London gloss for awhile now, and its easily one of my favorite lip glosses! The color is so vibrant, but isn't too overpowering on. It doesn't last very long as a gloss, but it does stay on pretty consistently (no weird patches like some glosses). I love the watermelon pink of this shade and highly suggest it! This color is called Fuchsia Fever.
What are your summer beauty favorites? I'd love to know down below. I hope you all are having a great summer so far ☼

Ever since getting married I have been a coupon queen... (Not officially titled, but I'm working on it!) I love finding the best deals, and coupons are the way to go. While getting coupons in the mail is fun, it is never a sure thing when they arrive. For this reason, I love using online coupon sites like Groupon. With over hundreds of coupons available, there is sure to be something for everyone in your family!
Her: I am usually too cheap to shop at Nordstrom, but I am going to take advantage of these coupons because shoes are 65% off and clothes are 50% off! A girl can never have too many clothes or shoes, so if you’re a shopaholic like I am, hurry over to these deals because you’ll be saving so much!
Him: I hope my husband isn’t the only one who has this issue, but he is constantly losing or breaking his sunglasses. His absolute favorite brand is Oakley and with their 40% off select sunglasses…. Um, that is a HUGE deal and I might have to stock up while this is going on haha. If y’all remember my post about Eye Buy Direct awhile back, and still haven’t purchased some, now is your chance! They have an amazing deals going on, including Buy 1 Get 1 Free on Clearance. They have sunglasses and eyeglasses for men and women, so this deal is a given for me to tell you about.
Fur Baby: In my posts about Pepper, I have talked a lot about PetSmart. It is the only place I shop for things for Pepper, and after seeing their latest deals on Groupon, I need to make a trip very soon. They have great grooming and bath deals going right now, which if I didn’t just get her groomed I would have taken advantage of those coupons! I also love that Groupon shows how many people have recently used the coupons, because with some online coupon sites, I’m always afraid of them not working or still being active. With Groupon I don’t have that issue, which is so great!
Coupons and deals are so much fun to find, and I hope you got some great ideas! If you head on over to groupons.com/coupons you can see the plethora of coupons they have to offer. from food to clothes to hotels, they have everything you can imagine! Have you ever tried out Groupon? I'd love to hear down below what deals/coupons you've been able to snag! Thanks so much for reading, have a great week.
