The holiday season means a lot of traveling for me and my family. It used to be a whole lot easier, and now with our baby there are certain things that have changed for us! I have gathered the guide to surviving car trips.
It all starts with a good car. Thankfully, our car is the perfect size for the three of us. But soon we will outgrow it and will need something bigger. Cars.com is a great resource to find new and used cars for sale as well as read reviews! Finding the perfect car fit for your family is a must. Think about if you want gps, a center console, have enough cup holders, and if you have adequate trunk space.
Packing your car with snacks will save you a lot, and prevent you from having to run into a lot of gas stations. You will want to spread out your stops as much as you can, and have you ever tried to run into a gas station holding a soiled diaper baby, and then grab snacks? Not a fun time y'all, learn from my mistakes. Pack a few different snacks (salty and sweet) and a good stock of water bottles and juice.
Put together an emergency back up of all things baby. I'm talking diapers, wipes, bottles, and clothes that stay in your car. This is a stash you absolutely don't touch until you have to, which you most definitely will. When the time comes, you'll be thankful.
Traveling with an infant can be a great time, so if you have a road trip coming up soon enjoy it! Happy Holidays!

Oh sweet summertime! A time filled with family, road trips, and yummy snacks and we are lucky enough to experience all of this at once. Every summer we plan trips to visit both of our families. We are both from different neighboring states, which makes the summertime filled with long hours in the car.
Our first year of marriage, this was a dreaded road trip I'll be honest! But, this has quickly become my favorite time spent with my husband.
Spending an entire day or two in the car together has been a great summer memory and ritual for us. We talk, laugh, sing, and of course you can't forget the many pit stops you make along the way! With me being pregnant this summer, we take a lot more stops than usual. Sure it adds a few hours to the trip, but it's good to get out and stretch your legs to keep your energy up.
With a baby on the way, I've been looking forward to stocking up on yummy snacks for the trip. We stopped and grabbed Snyder’s of Hanover® Pretzels and Cape Cod® Potato Chips, because I wanted to be mindful of what I'm snacking on and choose healthier, better for you treats. We are both huge snackers, and love to try out different flavors together! What is your favorite Cape Cod Potato Chip flavor? (we are loving the salt and vinegar!)
Also, you can enter the sweepstakes and win; just for sharing your favorite snacks! Rules and entry is below!
During our road trips, I realized this is the last trip we will be taking before we are a family of three. It's kind of bittersweet because I love this precious time with my hubby, but also very exciting because we will now have our little one in the back with Pepper and making even more family memories!
I am looking forward to our future summer road trips and all the new memories we will create with our growing family! I see a lot of pit stops, fun car memories, and yummy snacks in our future and I couldn't be more excited.
I would love to hear below if you are taking any trips this summer and also what your favorite snack is!
I feel refreshed, well rested, and just a little bit more tan! J and I returned home from our honeymoon and we had a blast! Okay, not the whole time (we got super sick for a few days!). We really enjoyed catching up on some sleep, seeing beautiful destinations, and had a great time on the cruise ship!
We decided to go on a 10 day cruise to the caribbean. We used Princess Cruises and I highly recommend! We ported out of Ft. Lauderdale and they were sweet enough to shuttle us from the Miami airport to the port, leaving us with less to stress about. But, we pulled an all nighter and flew to Miami at 11 pm, arrived about 5 am there and had to wait for the shuttle which didn't leave till noon. We ended up getting very acquainted with the Miami airport, and if you have ever been there it's literally the worst airport we have ever been to! (but that's a whole other story!)
The cruise ship was fun, and we participated in several games and 'Princess Live!' shows and James ended up winning one of them which was so fun! haha Since it was live, it ended up being a show on our tv and we watched it that night and it was so cool to see him on there! We also won bingo twice in a row which was super fun and we decided to end on a good note and not play again.
As for the actual islands, we opted out of doing excursions. I haven't really been feeling up to strenuous activity and we more so wanted to just relax and do our own thing on our vacation! We did get off on every island though, and had a fun time seeing the different buildings and exploring. In this post I'll be showcasing my two favorite spots we went to.
Princess Cays is an island owned by Princess Cruises. You would think this would be the most boring since it's the most uncultured, but it had the nicest beach and we enjoyed relaxing in the chairs and eating burgers! It was a common theme for the rest of the islands we visited that the beaches were not nearby and you had to take a taxi to them which was kind of a bummer! But Princess Cays was all beach and we had a great time there.
Curacao was one of the last spots to dock at, and it was by far our favorite! It has such a rich history and it was a beautiful island! It was also one of the few that didn't have people berating you to buy things as soon as you got off the ship. Curacao has the largest pontoon bridge and when a ship needs to go by, it will swing itself to the other side of the water. It was the coolest thing to watch, but be prepared to wait for a long time to get back to the other side! haha They have a ferry to transport people while its moved, but we decided to wait it out and the ferry really didn't save a ton of time.
Here is the Queen Emma bridge swinging back, it is seriously so cool! We went down the shopping center shown above and it was a dream. Cobblestone roads, nice people, and I found a MAC store and treated myself haha!
When we were on our way back to the ship, I realized out loud to J that we had yet to see any animals! I was bummed and right after I finished that sentence we saw this huge guy scurrying by! It was so hilarious and I'm so glad we got to see one cool animal before leaving.
I hope y'all enjoyed our vacation pics and lived vicariously through them! We had so much fun celebrating our two year anniversary and having a honeymoon! I cannot wait to go on more vacations like this and share it with you all!
Where was your favorite place to vacation?
My husband’s mom is from Canada and after seeing how beautiful it is, I’d love to visit! I want to take a road trip up there and possibly camp out.
I’ll be honest and say the main reason I want to go here is to see the temple. I mean, look at it!
We are going on a cruise here! I love the idea of going to islands and I can’t wait to go here soon. J has never vacationed, so we figured our first vacation destination would be best spent on a boat and islands. It is our long overdue honeymoon and I'm so excited.
Alaska just looks so magical. I would love to catch a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis, and to possibly cruise up here and see the beautiful sights.
Growing up, I was obsessed with Paris. I even had a Paris themed room and dreamed of seeing the Eiffel tower. J has yet to go there either, so it would be very special to fulfill my childhood dream together.
Another huge dream of mine. J has been there, but hasn’t done the things I would be interested in doing. I’d love to visit the museums and more historical sites of Italy!
J loves Austria, mainly Vienna. He has been here a few times so I would love to go with him one time and see everything!
Peru has this desert where the light ambiance is one of the lowest in the world. So at night, you can see everything in the sky! The town, Huacachina is known for being 'mystical'.
New York City
My husband went on his mission and resided in upstate New York. I visited New York City on a school trip and fell in love with it! I would love to go back and have more time there, and show James all of the amazing sites to see.
I would love to go to the Blue Lagoon and several of the national parks! Iceland looks so breathtaking and that would be such a fun trip!
James has captured so many great sights while visiting Prague, Czech Republic. Here are a few of my favorites! I have little insight on exact names and locations, I just have short descriptions that James gave me. So sorry this is less informative and more just beautiful photos haha.
