I don't know about ya'll, but weddings are usually planned and the bride is at least in the know about it. Well, imagine my confusion when my own wedding ceremony was a surprise! Let's just say my mom is a magician.
You see, we were unable to have an actual wedding. James and I had a rushed wedding up in Utah that just his parents attended. It was kind of last minute and I had always had a different vision for my wedding. (I just wanted to go to Vegas!) So, with my parents and family not able to attend my real wedding we had planned to do a "redo" wedding back in Texas + have a ceremony there as well. Due to not enough time and other reasons we had to cancel the wedding part and just wanted a ceremony for the family to attend. So my mom and I, even states a part, have been planning a ceremony together. What I did not know is she was also planning a wedding...
We arrived in Texas last Wednesday and had been setting up for our wedding reception that would be that Saturday. I had bought a beautiful wedding dress back in December, but never got to wear it since we were just doing a courthouse wedding. My mom told me I would put it on at the beginning of the reception and wear it to take pictures. Saturday comes around and we spent the morning setting up and doing finishing touches. I headed to my hair appointment, came back to do my makeup, and some close family started arriving. My best friend Samantha (and Tyler!) arrived and helped me get into my wedding dress which is not an easy task. Our photographer arrived and started taking some pictures just in the room and of my wedding dress. My uncle and aunt had drove my grandma and brought her into the room and she immediately teared up and said how beautiful I looked. It was such a sweet moment to have because the first time around, I was unable to have any of my close relatives there which made me so thankful for my mom to help put this all together.
Finally 6 rolled around and everyone left me in the room and I felt a bit confused to be honest! Samantha came back in the room, as well as my mom, Sam (who is my mom's boss' daughter, also a wedding planner, also an amazing person all around!), and the photographer. My mom asked if I was ready and she called my grandpa in. He was holding a bouquet and handed it to me. My mom then said something along the lines that he would be walking me down the aisle. I said oh okay, not really getting it and catching on. Then she said, Amy you are going to have another wedding and everyone is outside waiting for you. At that point, I was tearing up! I could not believe my mom not only threw me my own surprise wedding, but the fact that I was going to be able to get married again in front of all my friends and family was such an overwhelming, great surprise!
I am going to have to break up this wedding series into several parts, and I'll probably have to make a whole separate post for all of the photos my amazing photographer took! In the meantime, y'all seriously need to go check out her Facebook page, Fore Photos. Our album is called Meet The Stratton's which is so cute.
Also, sorry I am so behind on my blog!! Our days have been hectic and I have a lot to write about! Take care + God Bless!
