I am participating in 12 Days of Blogmas, where myself and amazing bloggers have teamed up to bring you a blog post every day up to Christmas. What does this mean for you? Not only will you be introduced to 12 amazing bloggers, but there will also be a giveaway EVERY DAY, including Christmas!!!! I will always have the day's giveaway linked below. Merry Christmas to all!
I hope I'm not the only one to experience this, but sometimes I get so caught up in the holiday festivities and gift giving, I forget that it's not about the presents. Obviously I know the reasoning behind Christmas, but I needed to be reminded of the best gift of all you can give: service.
Something as simple as making a dessert for a neighbor, can bring a smile to them. Acts of kindness like this never go unnoticed and it really doesn't require a ton of time invested.
Serving at your local soup kitchen could be a huge help to your community, because they are busier during the holidays and you will be helping those who need a hot meal. You can find out where just by searching local soup kitchen near me. I particularly love the Utah Food Bank and you can find a whole list by your state here!
Also, even if you aren't a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they have a great list of ways you can help your community. Our church is a huge advocate for service (check out the Light the World campaign ad to the right for our 25 ways you can light the world!) and I think anyone can agree that giving back and helping others is a great thing to do. I love this quote that really puts a pep in my step to get out and help others!
“Too often we notice the needs around us, hoping that someone from far away will magically appear to meet those needs. … When we do this, we deprive our neighbor of the service we could render, and we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to serve.”- President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
